A NEW technology for tendons
Shockwave really is the new kid on the block!
It's a bit of a mouthful... "Extra-Corporeal Shockwave Therapy (ECSWT)", or "Shockwave Therapy" in short. Shockwave is a technology-based treatment which is used to manage conditions such as Plantar Fasciosis and Achilles Tendinopathy. There is a LOT of emerging evidence that supports the use of Shockwave Therapy for Tendon pain.
Did you know that Shockwave Therapy is used for AFL Football Players and Elite Athlete's?
How does Shockwave work?
Shockwave Therapy tells the body HEY, it's time to heal!
Shockwave involves a handpiece that is gently held onto the sore targeted area. Shockwaves are transmitted through the handpiece into the deeper tissues to stimulate cell repair.
It's always easier to work WITH the body. The shockwaves tell the body to start fixing the sore area and stimulate the natural healing process. Healing is achieved by:
Does it hurt?
Shockwave may be uncomfortable during treatments (which doesn’t last long!). Everyone perceives the sensation differently. Your Podiatrist is able to work within your tolerance levels, and can alter the pressure and frequency of impulses.
Most people walk out of their treatment with no pain!
Relief can be felt from even after your first session. Depending on the individual, 3-6 sessions may be required. For the following 2 days post treatment it is best to stay mobile but avoid more strenuous activity.
What does the research say?
Clinical studies show a 75% success rate!
A 2 year follow up study showed clients with Chronic Plantar Fasciosis treated with Shockwave had less pain compared to a placebo group.
A 2-year prospective study showed reduction in pain for Achilles Tendinosis using Shockwave

3 Important Points:
1. Shockwave is part of an effective treatment
2. Tendons need to be loaded appropriately (we'll give you some homework too)
3. Come in this month only to pay NO extra charge for Shockwave!
