Are you ready to be PAIN-FREE?
How does Shockwave Therapy help sore feet?
Shockwave Therapy has fantastic results for:
Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
Achilles Tendinopathy
Shin Splints
When foot and leg pain has been present for weeks or months, Doctors will often recommend a cortisone injection, x-ray, or even surgery. Does this sound familiar?
Most people don’t want to pursue these options, and avoid them all together or resign to pain being something “I just have to live with”.
You’ll find comfort in knowing that there are many people who are seeking an alternative treatment for their sore feet.
This is why our Podiatrists offer Shockwave Therapy!
It is a non-surgical, well tolerated treatment with no painkillers needed!
Learn About Shockwave!
How does Shockwave Therapy work?
The Shockwave handpiece sends an acoustic wave which carries high energy pulses to painful spots in muscle and fascial tissues. The energy promotes regeneration and repair of the bones, tendons and other soft tissues. This therapy also has an analgesic effect, meaning you feel less pain immediately after treatment!
The kinetic energy of the handpiece is created by compressed air and works directly on the sore tissue. This helps to heal pain through:
- Blood vessel formation (more blood flow = healing)
- Reversal of chronic inflammation (slow down the bad stuff)
- Stimulation of collagen production (produce healthy tissue)
- Dissolution of calcified fibroblasts (resolve scarred or tough areas)
- Release of trigger points (happy muscles!)

Shockwave really is the new kid on the block!
It’s a bit of a mouthful… “Extra-Corporeal Shockwave Therapy (ECSWT)”, or “Shockwave Therapy” in short. Shockwave is a technology-based treatment which is used to manage conditions such as Plantar Fasciosis and Achilles Tendinopathy. There is a LOT of emerging evidence that supports the use of Shockwave Therapy for Tendon pain.
Did you know that Shockwave Therapy is used for AFL Football Players and Elite Athletes?

Shockwave involves a handpiece that is gently held onto the sore targeted area. Shockwaves are transmitted through the handpiece into the deeper tissues to stimulate cell repair.
It’s always easier to work WITH the body. The shockwaves tell the body to start fixing the sore area and stimulate the natural healing process. Healing is achieved by:
Speeding up the metabolic rate in the target area
More blood flow to pain areas = quicker healing
Collagen repair = not just fixing pain, but also strengthening tissues
Has a pain-killer effect. This allows you to be pain-free and gives the chance for effective rehab too!
Shockwaves are able to transmit deep to the affected tissues via mechanical impulses that penetrate through to the sore areas
Shockwave Therapy tells the body HEY, it’s time to heal

Shockwave may be uncomfortable during treatments (which doesn’t last long!). Everyone perceives the sensation differently. Your Podiatrist is able to work within your tolerance levels, and can alter the pressure and frequency of impulses.
Most people walk out of their treatment with no pain!
Relief can be felt from even after your first session. Depending on the individual, 3-6 sessions may be required. For the following 2 days post treatment it is best to stay mobile but avoid more strenuous activity.

Can Shockwave Therapy help me?
Most people with chronic pain have been through many unsuccessful types of treatments. Up to 80% of the same people worldwide report that Shockwave Therapy has helped them to eliminate their pain! The added benefit of seeing a Podiatrist is that they will combine Shockwave with strength and conditioning plus other treatments that they know will fast track your healing.
Does the treatment hurt?
There may be a slight feeling of discomfort during the treatment, depending on the level of pain you are already experiencing in the area. However, since the treatment lasts only about five minutes, most people are able to tolerate this discomfort. Additionally, the intensity of the treatment can be adjusted throughout the session.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments varies depending on the indication and tissue response. The effect of the treatment is cumulative, so you will typically need more than one (4-6) treatment. Very often though you will experience relief right after the first treatment.
Will I feel any pain after the treatment?
Most people will experience an immediate pain relief following the treatment. However, within 2–4 hours after the treatment as well as the following day, they may experience some soreness in the treated area. This soreness has been reported as tolerable and not limiting.
How much does it cost?
Shockwave therapy is included in your consult so there’s no additional cost for you!
